Return & Refund Policy

At Sports Emporium, we want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. If for any reason you are not, we've outlined our return policy below to ensure a clear and straightforward process.


1. Our 14-Day Return Policy

We accept returns for items purchased from Sports Emporium within 14 days from the date you received your order.

To be eligible for a return, your item must meet the following conditions:

  • It must be in the same condition that you received it – unused, unworn, unwashed, and undamaged.
  • It must have all original tags attached.
  • It must be in its original packaging.
  • You must provide proof of purchase, such as your original receipt or order confirmation.

Please Note: We do not have any "final sale" items; all products are eligible for return within the 14-day window, provided they meet the above conditions.


2. How to Initiate a Return

To start a return, please contact our customer service team at sportsemporiumnz@gmail.com or 04-5664097. Please include your order number and the reason for your return. Our team will guide you through the next steps and provide you with return instructions.

 


3. Return Shipping

The customer is responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning an item. We recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance, as we cannot guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

4. Refunds

Once we receive your returned item, we will inspect it and notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund. If approved, your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your original method of payment within [e.g., 5-10 business days].

 

  • No Restocking Fees: We do not charge any restocking fees for returns.
  • Original Shipping Costs: Please note that the original shipping costs from your purchase are non-refundable, unless the return is due to a faulty or incorrect item received.

5. Exchanges

The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.


6. Damaged, Faulty, or Incorrect Items (Your Rights Under NZ Consumer Law)

At Sports Emporium, we are committed to upholding our obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA). If an item you receive is faulty, significantly different from the description, or not fit for its purpose, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund.

  • Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately at sportsemporiumnz@gmail.com or 04-5664097 if the item is defective, damaged, or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right.
  • We will guide you through the process for faulty items, and in such cases, we will cover the return shipping costs.

7. In-Store Returns

For your convenience, items purchased online may also be returned in person at our physical store during our regular business hours, provided they meet all eligibility criteria outlined above. Please bring your proof of purchase.

Important Reminders for Your Review:

  • NZ Consumer Guarantees Act (CGA): The most critical aspect for NZ businesses. Ensure your policy doesn't try to override or limit consumer rights under the CGA. A lawyer will confirm this wording.
  • Clarity: Make sure the language is easy for customers to understand.
  • Consistency: Ensure this policy is consistent with your shipping policy and any other terms.
  • Exact Timeframe: Double-check if "14 days" is based on shipment date, delivery date, or purchase date. I've used "date you received your order" which is common.
